Chrome is a new browser created by Google. From the picture above, as you can see from the Task Manager, Chrome is not grouped into one process, but it is seperated, just like Internet Explorer by Microsoft. Hence, you don’t need to worry about closing everything in the future.
The features of Google Chrome.
- One box for everything
“Web search. Web history. Address bar. Suggestions as you type. One unified box serves all your browsing needs.” - New Tab page
“Every time you open a new tab, you’ll see a visual sampling of your most visited sites, most used search engines, and recently bookmarked pages and closed tabs.” - Application shortcuts
“Use web apps without opening your browser. Application shortcuts can directly load your favorite online apps.”
- Dynamic tabs
“You can drag tabs out of the browser to create new windows, gather multiple tabs into one window or arrange your tabs however you wish — quickly and easily.” - Crash control
“Every tab you’re using is run independently in the browser, so if one app crashes it won’t take anything else down.” - Incognito mode
“Don’t want pages you visit to show up in your web history? Choose incognito mode for private browsing.” - Safe browsing
“Google Chrome warns you if you’re about to visit a suspected phishing, malware or otherwise unsafe website.” - Instant bookmarks
“Want to bookmark a web page? Just click the star icon at the left edge of the address bar and you’re done.” - Importing settings
“When you switch to Google Chrome, you can pick up where you left off with all the bookmarks and passwords from your existing browser.” - Simpler downloads
“No intrusive download manager; you see your download’s status at the bottom of your current window.”
Which one is better? Let me do some comparison between Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox 3.
For sure Chrome need some improvement on this. When I zooming in for 4 times, that’s what I get. The web page shown on Chrome are cramped inside, meanwhile Firefox 3 are able to zoom on everything (images, text and so on).
To be honest, when I run Google Chrome on my laptop, it is kinda slow. Perhaps I don’t have enough RAM to run Google Chrome, my current laptop only have 512MB of RAM installed. The moment I read Google said that they want to make a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier, I think of my friend’s work.
Svante from Sweden has developed his own browser, eFree Surfer. It is a browser that used Internet Explorer as it’s rendering engine. Svante developed this browser, because he also wanted to make the web faster as well. However, Svante said to me that the leading browsers have gone so far. He don’t really see the point for continue developing his own browser at the moment.
Well, I just hope that Google Chrome would be perfect browser for me in the future. I am still using Mozilla Firefox, meanwhile I will be using Google Chrome as well. This is because I have to report the bugs and so on to them, in order to make a better browser for everyone.
